Hot Day, Hot Time
The sun was shining and the temperature hit 24 degrees as Blackburne Creek held its fourth block party on Sunday, July 5, 2009.
About 350 residents attended the event, held next to the playground. There was a little something for everyone. For the kids there was face painting, a candy scramble and a clown. For those a little older there was a Segway to try, some good food and music, an evening bonfire when it started to cool down and a chance to visit with neighbours.
Thanks for the committee who put on the event – Jennifer Harbin, Rochelle Mills, Kelly Dunn, Joe and Pauleen Friel, Bruce Flesher and Grant Ainsley.
The event, presented by the Blackburne Creek HomeownersAssociation, was sponsored by a number of area businesses. They include several retailers along Ellerslie Road at 111 Street – Save On Foods, Sobey’s, M & M Meats, Second Cup, Panago Pizza, ATB Financial and Shoppers Drug Mart. Realty Executives helped provide the tents that came in handy on such a warm day.
To those who attended, thanks for coming out.
