Clearing a Path

In response to a complaint by one of our members and a refusal by City of Edmonton Administration to clear our walking trail, which is badly in need of trimming, our Vice-President Nathan Maslanko, accompanied by President Brian Hawrelak (bottom photo), took it upon themselves to clear the weeds on the trail in order to allow access to the handrails down to the footbridge.

The City has taken some very (overly in our opinion) drastic action in response to the COVID scare, which has apparently resulted in a shortage of landscape workers this summer.

In the interim, some residents have taken to clearing the portion of the path adjacent to their property and although we don’t sanction doing the City’s job for them, it is one stop-gap measure. Suggestions for how to deal with this situation over the longer term are welcome by sending us an email.
