Report on the 2014 Annual General Meeting
The 17th Annual General Meeting of the Blackburne Creek Homeowners' Association was held on November 3 at the Ellerslie Rugby Park.
The well attended event saw President Brian Hawrelak report on activities for the 2013-14 year. He updated the membership on the legal action being taken against three homeowners for putting non-wood roofing material on their homes last summer. He also talked about efforts to keep the greenspace in the community looking good and work that's been done to refurbish the community sign next to the pump house, along with the shrub bed in front of it.
Treasurer Drew Schofield presented the association's financial statements for the year ending June 30, 2014. The statements showed revenue over expenses of just over $4,000.
Board elections were also held. Returning to the Board will be Hawrelak, Schofield, Dan Edwards, Melissa Tilburn and Nathan Maslanko. They will be joined by Adam Kitchen, who will be returning to the Board after several years away. Grant Ainsley decided prior to the meeting not to seek re-election to the Board of Directors.
Also in attendance were City of Edmonton Councillor Bryan Anderson and Edmonton South West MLA Matt Jeneroux. They fielded a number of questions and comments related to growth, transportation, transit service, new schools and noise in the area.
