Warmer weather is here and now is a great time to do the important maintenance to keep your home in good repair and our neighbourhood looking great! We are sharing some information to support your success:
Fences
The Restrictive Covenant lists the approved stain color as:
1. ‘Forest’ made by Olympic Paints.
Cloverdale and Rona both have these paint specs on file for 'Forest' and they recently sponsored the spring clean-up event at the park.
In addition, Color Theory Design Studio Ltd. (2328 Elwood Dr SW) is a Bejamin Moore Retailer and is willing to offer our residents a 15% off discount.
The historically acceptable alternatives are:
1. ‘Evergreen’ made by Behr Contemporary, last known available at Home Depot
2. ‘Evergreen’ made by Benjamin Moore, last known available at Kans of Any Colour (3821-99 Street)
3. ‘Leafy Bower’ made by Pratt and Lambert, last known available at Expressions at Home (9810-51 Avenue)
The paint program was discontinued by the previous board. At this time, the HOA does not have the financial resources to consider resuming this program.
Trees
Do you need to replace trees or would you like to add additional trees to provide shade, beauty, habitat for birds and fight climate change?
The previous board (2023-24) shared the following resource that may be helpful as you look to add trees to your property:
Roof
The spring rain has been welcome, but may have some of you worrying about leaking roofs! Please remember that while the current board is interested in seeking clarity on the
restricitve covenant, at this time there is no change to the requirement for a wood roof.
We have heard from some residents that roofing companies are able to use drones to take pictures of your roof to better assess and suggest maintenance to increase the longevity and integrity of your roof. Some residents have reported positive experiences with Dwight's Roofing. Reid's Roofing also recently sponsored our spring clean-up. We are sharing the suggestions we've received from neighbours but the board can not endorse any company specifically. Research and reviews will be important to ensure you will be happy with the service and quality of the work you receive.
In the fall of 2023,
Shaw Roof Consulting provided a presentation for our neighbours to help us to better understand the important considerations for cedar roofs; in particular that the installation is just as important as the quality of the material that is used. Roofing inspectors may be able to independently assess and support you in your efforts to ensure your home is well protected.
